How to create a podcast: our experience
Do you know that you can create your own podcast without the need to be physically in a recording studio?
What you need would be good headphones, a good audio editing tool and the Microsoft suite!
…And, of course, a nice pool of experts for the topics you would like to cover, and a friendly host. 😊
If you want, for instance, to deliver training contents in an informal way, the podcast is the perfect format.
With the podcast, learners are in full control: they can decide when and how to listen to it, without the need to be in front of a computer. They can decide when to stop and when to focus.
If you are using Microsoft Stream, you can split your podcast episode into chapters and you can insert transcripts, to make the learning experience more inclusive.
How do we usually manage a podcast?
- First, we draft a detailed plan for the topics that we would need to cover and when we plan to launch them.
- Then, with the podcast directors, we start drafting the outlines for the following episodes. But be careful: not everything needs to be planned: the more spontaneous it is, the better it sounds!
- Of course, we need to find a host and experts for our sessions.
- When everything is set, the recording session takes place. We don’t need a recording studio; we simply record the session via Teams. We only make sure to have a stable connection, good headphones and a silent room. What’s good about Teams is that the participants can join from any part of the World!
- After the session takes place, of course there is some audio editing needed, and here we have our experts making the magic happen. 🪄
- Nice! The new episode is now ready to be published and listened to on the desired platform, for example, a Teams channel.
- … And then the process starts over again drafting a new episode!
We always have so much fun with the podcast experience and we suggest it to our clients also because it’s versatile: it suits to many topics and, if you have also a video maker in the team, you can match the audio to an engaging video as well.
